For those who need additional support, there are tutorial sessions after classes, Monday through Thursday. These sessions are usually voluntary, but teachers may assign a student to tutorial to make up work. Mentors and parents can also request that a struggling student be assigned mandatory tutorial. Students who are in advanced classes often use this time to work on assignments.
A Night Study Hall for all boarding students runs in the evenings from 7:30pm-9:00pm on Sundays through Thursdays. Students study in their dorm rooms and have access to their computers and the internet for an hour and a half of study hall. Students in Night Study Hall are under the supervision of the cadet life supervisors. Students may continue to study during their hour of free time from 9:00pm-10:00pm.
At the Upper School, students who continue to struggle may need additional study time. These students are placed into an additional afternoon study hall, which is held during intramural/sports time on Mondays through Thursdays. Students are recommended for this program based on the recommendations of teachers, the academic office, or the request of parents. The cadet’s grades are evaluated every two weeks, and once grades have improved, the cadet may again participate in afternoon extracurricular activities.
