Winchester Resident Margot Cramer Wins State Honor, National Award

R-MA Singer Wins State Honor, National Award

Margot Cramer, the daughter of Steve and Kim Cramer of Winchester, VA, has won two major honors in singing over the last two weeks. Cramer is a junior at Randolph-Macon Academy.

Margot Cramer, a day student at Randolph-Macon Academy, has won a state honor and a national award for singing.

On February 16th, while performing at the District Chorus Concert, Cramer auditioned for and was selected to the All-State Chorus, a group comprised of some of the best high school singers in the entire Commonwealth of Virginia. She will travel to Mechanicsville, VA mid-April to represent Randolph-Macon Academy, and is believed to be the first R-MA cadet ever to be selected for this honor.

In addition, during the weekend of February 22-24, Cramer traveled to Fork Union Military Academy to perform in the choir portion of the 37th Annual Military School Band Festival, and received the Outstanding Choral Musician Award.

Cramer’s talent has not gone unnoticed at Randolph-Macon before these honors—she was cast as one of two leads in the drama department’s production of the musical Mulan this past fall, and she is a member of the Academy’s four-person a capella group.

Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA), founded in 1892, is a college-preparatory, coeducational boarding school for students in grades 6 through 12.  Students in grades 9-12 participate in R-MA’s 91st Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC).  R-MA is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is located in Front Royal, VA.
