Veterans Day weekend is quickly approaching, and it will be an extremely busy time for Randolph-Macon Academy’s students and staff.
On Friday, November 8, 2013, the Randolph-Macon Academy chorus and color guard will perform for Warren County Middle School’s Veterans Day Celebration, at which the guest speaker will be the Commandant of R-MA, Col Gary Sadler, USAF Retired.
On Sunday, November 10, 2013, color guards from Randolph-Macon will support several church services that will be honoring veterans, including Restoration Fellowship Church in Strasburg at 11:00 a.m. and Old Bridge United Methodist Church in Woodbridge, VA at 8:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., and 11:11 a.m. In addition, R-MA’s chaplain, Reverend Lemuel Pearsall, Jr., will be the guest preacher for the services in Woodbridge.
On Monday, November 11, 2013, the cadets will be back in Front Royal for the local Veterans Day Ceremony hosted by the American Legion. The band, honor guard, and color guard will be on-hand for this event, which begins at 11:00 a.m. (prelude at 10:30 a.m.) on the lawn of the Front Royal Courthouse. Randolph-Macon Academy’s president, Maj Gen Maury Forsyth, USAF Retired, will be the keynote speaker for the event.
Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA), founded in 1892, is a college-preparatory, coeducational boarding school for students in grades 6 through 12. Students in grades 9-12 participate in R-MA’s 91st Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC). R-MA is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is located in Front Royal, VA.
