The Jackets started their season confidently with a home game against Fresta Valley. Somto Ogah was menacing throughout from attacking mid and won a penalty in the first half that was converted by keeper JJ Banek-Gabelle. Somto got on the score sheet in the second half with a goal of his own before JJ Banek-Gabelle added two more for his hat-trick when moved to attacking mid. Fresta scored a late consolation goal for a 4-1 victory for R-MA.
In their second game of the season, the Jackets travelled to Chelsea and continued their early season form by taking a 2-0 lead during the first half from goals by Godfrey Delaney and Somto Ogah. Chelsea threw everything at us in the second half, but we came away with a clean sheet to win 2-0 on the road.
The Jackets had to come back from an early scare on their second away game in a week at WCDS where we were hit on the counter by the only two real chances of the half. The Jackets dominated possession throughout and managed to pull back a goal from Alpha Diallo just before the half. An early goal in the second half brought us level, but it looked like WCDS were going to hold on for a draw with some stubborn defending. Two minutes before time Alpha scored the third goal for his hat-trick and R-MA notched up its third straight win of the season.
