On Saturday, the swim team competed in the VISAA Division II Championship in Manassas. Congratulations to our boys team on their 8th place finish out of 17 teams and our six team members that have qualified to compete in the state meet in Christiansburg on February 13-15th!
At the first meet of the season on December 13th, our 200 Medley Relay team qualified to compete in the state tournament. Unfortunately, after that event one of the relay team members decided not to continue on the swim team. Because of this, the relay team was not eligible to compete in states and had to re-qualify with its new member, Josiah Herring. Congrats to Tyler Stanford, Reilly Schweigert-Opas, Josiah Herring, and Jacob Gehly for finishing 6th out of 16 teams and qualifying their relay team for the state meet.
Additionally, after struggling with a bicep injury over the past few weeks, Jacob Gehly placed 5th out of 55 swimmers in the 50 Freestyle and has also qualified for states in that event with a time of 23.92. Jacob also finished 7th out of 41 swimmers in the 100 Breaststroke
Finally, Tyler Stanford, Ethan Park, Tire Bayo-Adeyemo, and Jacob Gehly finished 8th out of 19 teams in the 200 Freestyle Relay to qualify their relay team for states.
The team will compete next Saturday, February 8th in the DAC Championship at the Warrenton Aquatic Recreation Facility. Please wish them all good luck at the final team event of the season!
