Solid Opener for Varsity Cross Country

The Cross Country teams had a solid opening first race at Foxcroft Academy.  The boys' team finished in 6th place out of 10 teams and only two points behind the fifth place team.  James Ross was the top runner for R-MA finishing in 19th place with Ben Kopjanski, Lawrence Carvana and Kevin Wu right behind him in 21st,  29th, and 35th places respectively out of 82 runners.

The girls' team was able to have a team score for the first time in several years and finished fifth out of 10 teams.  Sam Bai was the top runner finishing in 11th place and only 5 seconds out of 10th place.  Cecelia Paredes was close behind in 14th place.  Quinlin Bruhn and Cat Thomas rounded out the scoring positions.  Both Quinlin and Cat are running cross country for the first time, but contributed valuable placings to help the team earn their fifth place finish.

Ben, Lawrence and Cecelia ran faster race times this year than last year’s first race.  All three ran 30 – 45 seconds faster on the 2017 course that was used again this year after Foxcroft finished a construction project that interrupted the course from last year.
