On February 1, 2020, four Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA) students competed in the Blue Ridge Chapter Competition of MathCounts, held at Admiral Richard E. Byrd Middle School in Winchester, VA. R-MA sixth grader Angelina Vincent of Winchester placed second overall in the individual competition that included both public and private schools in the area.
“I really wasn’t surprised that she received second place in the individual competition,” said her Randolph-Macon Academy math teacher, Kyle Mackey. “From her first day on campus, she has shown herself to be advanced in mathematics. She has a natural talent and a passion for it.” Mackey was also recognized as being the coach of the second-place finisher.
Angelina, who is a day student at the Front Royal private school, will advance to the state competition to be held in Richmond, VA, on March 14, 2020.
