On October 4, 2018, the students in Randolph-Macon Academy’s Unmanned Flight Operations class were treated to a presentation from Maj Dan Riley, USAF, Retired. Maj Riley, a graduate of Virginia Military Institute, was an F-16 pilot who flew seven tours and also served another tour with Air Command and Control. He is now the manager for the Advanced Development division of Ausley Associates, Inc. The veteran-owned company works with providing expertise in various areas, including drone and unmanned aerial systems, to both the military and civilian sectors.
Maj Riley spoke to the students about his career and work, including how the military uses unmanned systems to give them the edge on the battlefield, and also addressed career opportunities in both the military and civilian sectors.
