The Lady Jackets traveled to Wakefield Country Day School (WCDS) last night to take on the Lady Owls.
In the first set Jessalyn Brooks ’21 and Jotrina Vamboi ’21 both served five points. Haley Clingerman ’21 served three points and Destinee Thomas ’21 added one point. We had some amazing volleys but fell short and lost the match 25-22.
In the second set Brooks served four points, Clingerman and Lily Grossman ’21 both added three points and Thomas added one point. It was hard fought, but the Lady Owls took the win 25-20 and clenched the set.
The third set was another tight contest. The Lady Jackets had a strong showing from Elianne Gihozo ’22 with five points served to start the set. Ameera Anderson-Dade ’23 stepped up and served three points with one of them being an ace. Brooks also added two points for her team. The Lady Jackets lost 15-13 with a great display of teamwork.
I am very proud of these ladies. We all want to wish Caity Cunningham ’22 a quick recovery. She started the first set and had an amazing showing while serving and then on a powerful serve from the other team her wrist was bent backwards and resulted in a sprain. Our thoughts and prayers are with her.
