On Tuesday, December 8, the young Jackets got their third victory of the season against the Sacred Heart Saints from Winchester, Virginia. The Jackets once again started strong in the first period with John Clark controlling the boards and scoring 5 in the initial frame. R-MA led 12-6 at the end of the first period. Michael Sumner and John Clark combined for 16 points in the second quarter and R-MA led 30-22 at halftime. The Jackets outscored the Saints 12-8 in the third stanza to take a 42-30 lead. The fourth quarter saw R-MA score 15 points to Sacred Heart's 9 points. The final score was R-MA 57 and Sacred Heart 39.
Leading the way for R-MA was eighth-grader Michael Sumner who scored 36 points and hauled in 15 rebounds. Michael set R-MA's Middle School single game scoring record with his brilliant performance. Eighth-grader John Clark had a great game and he contributed 17 points. Eighth-grader Jonathan Bunker and seventh-grader Sidique Thomas-Sualley both scored 2 points each.
With this win the Middle School Jackets are now 3-0. On Thursday afternoon the Jackets will host the newly formed team from Legacy Christian Academy. The R-MA Lady Jackets tip-off at 4:00 with the boys' game to follow. Come out and support your Jacket teams.
