R-MA Garden Provides College Credit

The development of an on-campus community garden over this past summer allowed for the development of a new course: Introduction to Plant Science and Technology. Combining hands-on experience in the garden with classroom work, the course is dual-enrolled, providing college credit through Lord Fairfax Community College. The course is taught by Science Department Chairman Kara Lewallen, who oversees the community garden in conjunction with R-MA Cadet Life Supervisor Rob Sittman '08. Communications Assistant Cooper Bourdon '11 visited the class as they were working in the garden, and spoke with Sittman:
