Coming off of two phenomenal games, the Female Yellow Jackets stormed their home court yet again to take on the visiting team from Legacy Christian Academy.
With a quick start and numerous fast break opportunities, the Yellow Jackets scored ten points in the first part of the game. This high scoring quarter was led by Princess Uzoma and Lily Grossman with both of them scoring four points each. Rounding out the quarter, Olachi Agba added another two points to her season total. R-MA’s defense also remained dominate, holding LCA to zero points.
Princess continued to impress with yet another fast break opportunity, giving her a total of six points for the game. Also, showing her dominance was Nafisah Muhtar. Nafisah had been quiet all season, but scored four points during the second quarter. Going into the half, LGA-4, R-MA 16.
The second half continued without a hitch; however there were many new faces on the court. With a comfortable lead, off-the-bench players were able to show off their own talents. One player who did just that was Jotrina Vamboi. In the second quarter, she may have even surprised herself by scoring four points. Also, helping the cause was Jessalyn Brooks with two points and Olachi scoring another four.
The fourth quarter saw Jotrina scoring yet again along with Jessalyn, who was moved to point guard. Final score, Legacy-10 R-MA-30.
Notables: Even with the absence of starter Citlaly Sosa, the Yellow Jackets dominated the opposition. Six out of eight girls scored, with players Halima and Yazmin Blell getting numerous touches on the ball.
