On Tuesday, December 15, the R-MA Boy’s Basketball Team won their game over Fresta Valley by the score of 46-21. The Jackets took the lead and never were challenged. At the end of the first quarter the young Jackets were up 11-4 because of hot shooting by Michael Sumner, Jonathan Bunker and Joseph Flowers. During the second quarter the R-MA team scored 17 points to go up at halftime 28-6. The third quarter saw the Jackets extend their lead to 39-13. During the fourth quarter R-MA only shot three times, scoring on two field goals.
Leading the way for the young Yellow Jackets were eighth-graders John Clark with 19 points, Michael Sumner with 9 points, and Jonathan Bunker with 8 points. Seventh-grader Joseph Flowers contributed 5 points, and eigth-graders Bernard Kazosi and Ben Kopjanski tallied 3 and 2 respectively.
With this win the Jackets are 5-0 overall and 1-0 in the VMSC. This was the last game until after Christmas Break. The team would like to thank the parents, grandparents, families, faculty, staff, and students for supporting the team this year. A special thanks goes out to the young ladies who have been leading the cheers this season. They have been very vocal and help motivate the team to play at a high standard. The team and cheerleaders will be taking a break until we open up the 2016 season on Thursday, January 7, at home against Mountain View Christian Academy flowing the 4:00 girls’ game.
