MS Boys’ Basketball vs. Fresta Valley Pioneers

On Friday evening the R-MA Middle School Boys' Basketball team hosted the Fresta Valley Pioneers in our first VMSC game. The team had just come from an impressive win over the Powhatan Chiefs on Thursday night and continued their hot shooting to begin the game. The young Jackets went up 13-2 in the first quarter to set the tempo for the game. At halftime the Jackets had built a 27-9 lead which would never be challenged. The third frame saw Stanley Richards get hot scoring 8 points to build the lead to 41-13. Jonathan Bunker came off of the bench to score 10 points during the fourth quarter and seal the victory 55-14. Leading the way for R-MA was eighth-grader Stanley Richards with 16 points. Seventh-grader Michael Sumner scored 14 points including 2 three pointers and an impressive 13 rebounds. Seventh-grader Jonathan Bunker contributed 12 points that also included 2 three pointers. Sixth-grader Sidique Thomas-Sualley add 10 points as he controlled the game from the point guard position. Eighth-grader Ishmael Bobbitt scored 2 points during the fourth quarter and eighth-grader Griffin Loper scored 1 point.

With this win the young Jackets are 4-0 for the season and 1-0 on the VMSC. The Jackets go on the road Monday to play the Mountain View Pioneers who have just won an Invitational Tournament on Saturday. This promises to be a tough game for both teams. Thanks to the parents, grandparents, cheerleaders, and R-MA fans for coming out and supporting your team.
