Last night, the Yellow Jackets hosted Fresta Valley for their second conference game of the season. With a quick start, the Yellow Jackets were able to get major minutes from the bench and able to complete one of their team goals of getting everyone on the team to score points.
In the first half, the starting five displayed their dominance right from the tip. Sidique Thomas-Sually ’21 led the charge with eight points, followed by Joseph Flowers ‘21 with six and Michael Patten ’21 with two. Defensively, the team worked in their new 1-3-1 zone and held Fresta Valley to only one point off a free throw.
Fresta Valley’s scoring woes continued into the second quarter with only three more points. This was matched by David Idah ‘21, who drilled a three-pointer from the top of the arc. Nathan Whaley ’21 also got in on the action by making a free throw of his own and a basket off a rebound.
At the start of the second half, it was obvious to see what the outcome would be. Leading the way was Long Vu ’21 who netted six points, Ngu Ngosong ’21 cashing in on a three-pointer, Seth Yankey ’22 with four points (two off of a full court, fast break layup) and Flowers adding two more to his point total.
Defensively, the Yellow Jackets stayed on point completely shutting down Fresta Valley in the third quarter and only allowing seven points in the fourth quarter. The Yellow Jackets executed a commanding 39-11 victory as they head into winter break.
