On Friday evening the R-MA Middle School Boys' Basketball team played a home game against the County Christian Catamounts. The young Jackets started the game with a 17-0 run and never looked back. At the end of the first half the Jackets had a 19-7 lead. During the third quarter R-MA went on another run and led 33-9 at the end of the period. The final score was R-MA 37 and County Christian 15. Leading the scoring for the Jackets was Michael Sumner with 16 points. Eighth-grader Stanley Richards scored 6 points; six-grader Sidique Thomas-Sually scored 5; eighth-grader Griffin Loper scored 4 points; and Kota Ikemoto, Ian Mounts, and Daggm Mekonnen each added 2. With this win the young Jackets are 2-0 for the season. On Tuesday, December 9, the boys travel to Ressie Jeffries school in Front Royal to play an conference game against Riverfront Christian. Game time is at 5:00. On Thursday, December 11, the R-MA team travels to Berryville, Virginia for a non-conference contest against Powhatan. On Friday, December 12, the Jackets host Fresta Valley in a conference game.
