On Thursday, January 16, the R-MA Middle School Boys' Basketball team lost a close, exciting game to Saint Joseph's School from Martinsburg, West Virginia, by the score of 31-27. The young Jackets led after the first stanza 6-4, but the team could not get untracked during the second quarter and trailed at halftime 8-13. After halftime the team played with more spirit and was able to tie the game at 27-27 with 1:30 left in the game. The Crusaders broke the press and scored two foul shots to win the game and hand the Jackets their second VMSC loss. Leading the way for the Jackets were Cailen Baggett with 10 points and 4 rebounds, Stanley Richards with 8 points, Samuel Uzoma scoring 6 points and hauling in 16 rebounds, and Ryan Latham adding 3 points and 12 rebounds. The Lady and boys Jackets play again on Friday, January 17, against a non-conference opponent, the Front Royal Christian Academy Warriors. Please come out and support your Yellow Jacket athletes.
