On Thursday the R-MA Middle School Yellow Jacket boys' basketball team completed the season with a win over the Legacy Christian Academy Saints. The Jackets began the game with eighth-graders who had not started a game this season. This group of eighth-graders played the entire first quarter and at the end of the first period the Jackets were ahead 4-3. The regular starting five came in during the second quarter and at halftime the score was R-MA 26 and Legacy 6. The second and third units played the majority of the third and fourth quarters and the final score was R-MA 40 and Legacy 16.
Ten Yellow Jackets contributed offensively during the game. Leading all scorers with 9 points was eighth-grader Stanley Richards. Eighth-grader Gary Feng rebounded well and added 8 points. Eighth-grader Gil Iphael lead in rebounds with 8 while scoring 6 points. Seventh-grader Michael Sumner played sparingly but was able to contribute 5 points. Sixth-grader Sidique Thomas-Sualley added 2 points along with eighth-graders Kota Ikemoto, Griffin Loper, Ishmael Bobbitt, Jacob Karen, and Shawn Levitt.
With this final victory the Jackets end the season with a 13-2 overall record and 6-2 in the VMSC. The coaches and players would like to thank the parents, grandparents, family, friends, fans, and students for supporting the young Yellow Jacket team this year.
