Middle School Boys’ Basketball Defeat Wakefield Country Day

On Thursday, February 11, the Middle School Boys' Basketball team defeated Wakefield Country Day School 47-15 to send them to the VMSC Tournament Championship game on Friday at R-MA starting at 4:30. From the tip off the Jackets took charge and were never threatened. Eighth-grader John Clark was hot during the first frame and scored ten points to help the Jackets lead 17-3. During the second quarter the Jackets extended their lead to 27-9 on the hot shooting of eighth-grader Michael Sumner's two 3's and a field goal. After halftime the R-MA team came out hot scoring sixteen points to lead 43-13 after the third quarter. There was a lot of action but not much scoring during the final quarter and the final score was 47-15.

Leading all scorers was eighth-grader John Clark with 20 points. Eighth-grader Michael Sumner added 19 points and 6 rebounds. Seventh-grader Sidique Thomas-Sualley added 4 points and led the team at point guard. Seventh-grader Joseph Flowers scored 2 points and hauled down 6 rebounds. Eighth-grader David Deng scored 2 points and numerous rebounds. With this win the R-MA team improves to 13-0 overall and 7-0 in VMSC play. The Yellow Jackets will host the VMSC Tournament final today starting at 4:30. Second seeded Mountain View Christian School defeated the Rappahannock Panthers yesterday in the semi-final round to earn them the right to play for the championship.

With the VMSC Tournament game today being the last game of the season, you have one more chance to come out and support your 2015-2016 Valley Middle School Regular Season Champions try to also capture the VMSC Tournament title.
