Front Royal, VA— Randolph-Macon Academy will hold a reopening ceremony for Melton Memorial Gymnasium on October 15, 2011 at 1 pm, during the height of the Academy’s 2011 Homecoming festivities.
During the last year, Melton Gym has undergone some extensive renovations. Local graduates and their families, as well as members of the media who have attended past graduations, will recall some sweltering conditions during events held at the gym. These conditions are now a thing of the past, as one of the main upgrades was to replace the existing HVAC system and add air conditioning to the main gym.
In addition, other upgrades were completed, including replacing the bleachers, upgrading locker rooms and showers, upgrading and expanding the upper level bathrooms, reconditioning and repainting the gym floor, replacing lights and stage curtains, and many other improvements.
Members of the community are invited to join R-MA in this celebratory event.
Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA), founded in 1892, is a college-preparatory, coeducational day and boarding school for students in grades 6 through 12. Students in grades 9-12 participate in R-MA’s 91st Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) and have the option to participate in a unique flight program. R-MA is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is located in Front Royal, VA.
