Randolph-Macon Academy is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of alumna Jane Santamore ’22, who recently graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and was recognized as the Academy’s top graduating cadet in military performance.
The honor places Jane among the most distinguished graduates in her class and reflects years of dedication to academics, leadership, military excellence, and service.
Jane graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics. In addition to her Academy achievements, she also pursued undergraduate research at Harvard University during the summer of 2025, where she worked in animal cell culture and stem cell research.
Following her graduation from USAFA, Jane will continue her education at Harvard Medical School.
The milestone was made even more meaningful for the R-MA community when Chief Master Sergeant Mary Gamache, Randolph-Macon Academy’s College Counselor, attended the graduation ceremony and rendered Jane’s first salute, a longstanding military tradition marking the transition from cadet to commissioned officer.

“Academically, Jane would have been competitive for any university,” said Chief Gamache. “Jane told me at the beginning of her senior year that she wanted to pursue an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy. I knew immediately that, with her academic credentials and leadership ability, she would be a strong contender. After completing the extensive application process and earning nominations, Jane was appointed to USAFA. I am confident that Jane will not only be an outstanding USAF officer, but also a doctor who will make a difference in the future.”
Jane’s success reflects the values of character, leadership, service, and academic excellence that remain central to the Randolph-Macon Academy experience. Her journey from R-MA to the United States Air Force Academy and now to Harvard Medical School serves as an inspiring example for current and future Yellow Jackets.
Congratulations to Jane on this remarkable achievement. The entire Randolph-Macon Academy community looks forward to following her continued success.
