Through collaboration with other students and active participation in small classes, students at Randolph-Macon Academy quickly adapt their study habits to suit their goals, expectations, and workload.
Many of these environmental factors would not be possible without the direct and comprehensive involvement of our dedicated faculty and staff members. These individuals spend each day ensuring that from the dorms to the classrooms to the sports fields, students are receiving the support they need. Continue reading to learn how students develop these strong study habits that carry them throughout their middle and high school years into college.
R-MA Creates a Calm and Supportive Boarding Environment
The safe and structured environment created for student boarding life at our private boarding school serves as an extension of the classroom. With a dedicated study hall hour in each dorm building, students can spend time working towards their studies outside of the classroom with a supervisor.
Through this supportive supervision, our Cadet Life Supervisors (CLSs) work with the students, helping them develop the communication skills and maturity needed to become successful, self-governed young men and women while ensuring their homework is completed. These CLSs also communicate with the parents of our students to keep them in the loop with each child’s progress. Knowing there is constant correspondence with parents, students are motivated to study hard and make them proud.
Study Spaces Let Students Get a Change of Scenery
Students have their own spaces in their dorms to dedicate to studying, with a desk provided for each student in their dorm rooms. Outside of their dorm rooms, students also can head to their shared boarding spaces. The dorm lounges offer a nice change of scenery, which can often boost motivation to study.
Students can find various study spaces available, from their classrooms and labs to the outdoors, across our 135-acre campus. R-MA dedicates many resources to fostering a tight-knit community through small class sizes, comfortable dorm living, and supportive faculty and staff, which ensures students can always find a safe and helpful space to study.
Our Private Academy Guidance Counselors Help Build Good Study Habits
Guidance counselors at our private academy dedicate their time and energy to creating the best situation for each of our students. R-MA is committed to ensuring that students have the tools needed to succeed and attend a top university. With the support of their guidance counselors, and through building a plan complete with goals they can work towards, their ability to develop strong study habits grows.
Beginning in 9th grade, R-MA teachers and college counselors are available to help students get on the right track to attend their dream university. Due in part to this extensive support, 100% of graduates are accepted into leading universities around the world every year.
Constant Communication with Instructors Keeps Students Motivated
Students at R-MA are able to establish such a solid academic foundation with successful study habits due to the prioritization of collaboration, creativity, and discipline across campus. Students connect with their peers as like-minded individuals, which fosters motivation, mutual support, and accountability.
Due to our small class sizes, students are also in constant communication with their instructors. No student at R-MA is left behind, thanks to the individualized attention they receive in each class. The study habits that they form as a result of these efforts create an excellent foundation for high school and beyond.
