Final Parade

This year’s Final Parade featured a Change-of-Command Ceremony.  As seen in the photo below, R-MA President Brig Gen David C.Wesley, USAF Retired, took the flag symbolizing command from Cadet Colonel Gordon Anderson of Front Royal, who served as the Virginia 91st Air Force JROTC (Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps) Unit Corps Commander this past school year. Waiting to receive the flag and the command was junior Emma Bunker ’16 (at left in the photo), who will be the Corps Commander for the 2015-16 school year.  

And of course, the Class of 2015 celebrated their graduation from the Air Force JROTC program by tossing their caps into the air immediately after Anderson announced, “Class of 2015…dismissed!”

The graduation ceremony was full of humor, as both valedictorian Tyler Vaughan and guest speaker Dr. Tracy Fitzsimmons, President of Shenandoah University, kept the audience entertained. It might have been one of the few graduation ceremonies in the U.S. where the graduates were content to listen to the speakers!
