The R-MA Cross Country Team completed in Charlottesville on Tuesday in the third of three DAC district meets. The boys team was without two of their top four runners due to injury, so the emphasis was on running their personal best time. Every runner accomplished this feat with a time of 1 to 4 minutes lower than their previous best time. While the boys team dropped to 7th place in the district, every runner improved their placement standing, with Lawrence Carvana leading the way in 18th place. Lawrence is only 3 places out of becoming a member of the All-District team.
On the girls' side, they too reduced their times anywhere from 2 to 4 minutes. Quinlin Bruhn and Cat Thomas dropped their time from 31 minutes to 28 minutes and change. Cecelia Paredes lowered her time to 24:19 and Sam Bai led the way by improving her time to 23:06. Sam finished the race as the number 5 runner in the district only a minute and a half behind the 1st place runner.
The R-MA runners really dug down for this meet and came away truly demonstrating the Power of Grit and Determination.
