Boys’ Swim Team Claims Third at DAC Championships

The swim team competed in its final team event of the season, the DAC Championships, on February 8th at the Warrenton Aquatic and Recreation Facility. Congratulations to our boys swim team for placing third in this meet.

Josiah Herring '20 earned a bronze medal in the 200 freestyle at the DAC Championship Swim Meet. Highlights of the meet include Josiah Herring (pictured at left) earning the bronze medal in the 200 Freestyle. He entered the meet with a best time of 2.14.93, but shaved over two seconds off of his seed time to finish the event with a 2.12.10.

Another exciting achievement was by Jacob Gehly, who finished fourth in the 100 Breaststroke. His time of 1.09.15 qualified him to compete in that event at the State Championships. Jacob has now qualified to compete in states in all four of his events (50 Freestyle, 100 Breaststroke, 200 Medley Relay, and 200 Freestyle Relay).

With the injury of Leeza Norton, we only had four female competitors last night, but they have all shown tremendous improvement throughout the season and I am very proud of their hard work.  The four swimmers (Anna Mai, Aisling Kerr, Talin Goodden, and Cecilia Paredes) placed sixth in the 200 and 400 freestyle.  Aisling placed seventh in the 100 breaststroke and 13th in the 50 freestyle.

Please congratulate all of our swimmers on a great season and wish good luck to our six swimmers that will be heading to Christiansburg on Thursday, February 13th for the VISAA State Championships. Woodberry Forest will be streaming the state championships live on their site.
