“I feel great at R-MA! I especially like the Flying Jacket lessons because I really want to try to fly in high school. Now, I am working hard at school, especially in English. As an international student, my English was not very good at first, but I have improved a lot now because of my classes and teachers. I love to play golf with the school team and I hope to do well in the Spring competitions.”

The leadership roles I took on, like Cadre and class president, gave me real responsibilities that pushed me to grow. These weren’t just titles, they helped me develop key skills like teamwork and accountability, all of which prepared me well for the academic and social challenges of college. I’m so thankful for the confidence and resilience R-MA helped me build.

Physical health was another big part of my R-MA experience. I joined the varsity basketball and track teams, which kept me active and taught me the value of discipline and hard work. Whether we were training or competing, being part of these teams was about more than just sports, it was about building lifelong habits and staying committed to something bigger than myself. Those experiences made me stronger, not just physically, but mentally too.

What really made R-MA stand out for me was the supportive environment fostered by the faculty. The teachers and staff truly cared about each student, both inside and outside the classroom. They were always there to guide me, offer advice, and challenge me to be the best version of myself. That support didn’t stop when I graduated either, many of the faculty members continue to check in and offer guidance even now, which shows how much they truly care about their students’ success long-term.

And of course, the friendships and memories I made are some of the most valuable things I’ll carry with me. Whether it was hanging out after classes or competing alongside my teammates, I built friendships that have lasted far beyond my time at R-MA. The sense of community at R-MA was truly one-of-a-kind, and I’m proud to be part of that family.

Cadet Captain Kunnian Zhao and Deputy Support Officer is from China and has been at R-MA for four years. He has challenged himself with AP courses, recently flew solo with our Cessna aircraft and is now working on his private pilot’s license. He is on the Dean’s List.

Sibo joined R-MA as a sophmore and has been involved in Choir with a performance at the Governer’s Mansion; in band he was first chair bass clairnet at Universal Studios and Disney World. He is involved in our Spiritual Life Team and he is a Student Ambassador. He is out-going, friendly, and such a positive young man. Sibo had taken courses through Harvard, UVA and John Hopkins which include theoretical study, research, policy design focusing on China and Africa to culminate in a completed extensive research project for North Star Reports.

Sodbilig Amartuvshin is from Mongolia and Math is his favorite subject. He is a member of the basketball and soccer teams. His impressive GPA has earned him a place on the President’s List. He is a member of the Student Council Association and a leader among his peers. He likes R-MA because everyone is friendly and welcoming.

Jeff has a good sense of humor and loves technology. He works hard to achieve high grades and display great maturity with room inspections. He has worked diligently to learn to play the clarinet.

Senior Airman Okezie Onwuegbu is from Nigeria and has attended R-MA for years. He has managed the boys’ soccer team, He is the President of the Creative Writing Club, a member of the NEHS, the Honor Council, the Connect Club, and currently on the wrestling team. “My favorite class at R-MA has been English, whether with Mr. Taafel, Mr. Odom, or Ms. Moore. My favorite thing about R-MA is the diversity and most people are really interesting; it’s never really dull!”

First Lieutenant Aubin Kambanda is from Rwanda and he is a member of the Interact Club and the Varsity Track team. “I like the faculty and staff at R-MA and feel that I have learned to be more self-disciplined and take on additional responsibilities as a Cadre member.”

Sulaiman entered R-MA as a sophmore. He is confident and mature and he plans to enroll in a university and focus on a tech based field. He is very well adjusted to life at R-MA and continues to be successful academically.

Ethan entered R-MA in 9th grade and he hit the ground running. He has done great here consistently making the President’s List. He is currently working on a STEM project to put a control system in place for our hydroponics farm. He has taken his solo flight and excels in all he does, both academically and as a leader (he is currently Command Chief). Ethan is a self-taught coder and was the only member of the swim team that qualified for states as a non-senior.

Hyunwoo Lim is from South Korea and his favorite classes are Physical Education, Robotics, and Math. He is a member of the Taekwondo and Fitness Clubs. He likes R-MA because the teachers are kind and caring.

Airman Jaewon Bong is from South Korea and he is a Second Element Leader in Charlie Flight. He joined R-MA in the summer of 2022 and is now enrolled in Upper School maintaining a 4.0 GPA. He is a member of the Varsity Cross Country team and his favorite class is Aviation. He is interested in aerospace engineering and aviation.

Cadet Polina Harkusha is from Ukraine and this is her first year in R-MA. She is a member of the Interact Club and the tennis team and a leader of the Earth Prize Competition team. Her GPA for the first term is 4.4, placing her in the National Honor Society. She is also on the President’s List for her academic achievements. She likes that R-MA offers a lot of opportunities for students.

Airman First Class Anh Minh Than is from Vietnam and has attended R-MA for 3 years. He is part of the Interact Club and plays basketball and soccer. He enjoys English class the most. “I enjoy the diversity here, and my friends are my favorite part of the school.”

Dang Khoa has been selected to Cadre both his junior and senior year. He is highly thought of and humble and kind with a generous spirit. He always gives 100% and is not a glory seeker but a quiet, effective leader.

Dean Nguyen is from Hanoi, Vietnam and joined R-MA in the sixth grade, and is now in the Upper School. He is part of our Community Service Club and participates in the Taekwondo intramural. His GPA is 3.5  and his favorite class is Spanish.
