Middle School
The Middle School consists of 60+ students in Grades 6-8 who are immersed in a co-ed, private day and boarding school environment.
The Academic program at Middle School fosters an environment of collaboration through innovation, technology and the arts. Students are exposed to deeper connections with their teachers through a Mentoring program. This enables our teachers to provide the student and parents with feedback, guidance and support on a regular basis throughout the school year.
The military values of the Upper School have positive influences in the Middle School as students are still introduced to concepts of accountability, structure and character development they otherwise would not receive in a traditional private school environment. Graduates of our Middle School are often the best prepared students who have a heightened awareness of life-skills including time management, ambition and general outlook of college-readiness.

Flight Club
Students in the Middle School participate in the flight club one day a month for the duration of the year. They do everything from learning pilot vocabulary to operating the simulator to flying in R-MA’s own Cessna airplanes. This is a hands-on club that doesn’t conflict with any other clubs on campus. Almost 1/3 of the MS student body participates every year.
GeoBee Club
Interact Club
The Randolph-Macon Academy Interact Club is a service-oriented club sponsored by the Rotary Club of Front Royal. Like the Rotary Club, Interact members perform community service and raise money for worthy causes in the local and international communities. Members also live by the Four-Way Test: Of the things we think, say, or do: first: Is it the Truth? second: Is it Fair to all concerned? third: Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships? fourth: Will it be Beneficial to all concerned?

January Term (J-Term)
When students return from the holiday break between the 1st and 2nd semester, they will take part in our J-term during the first three weeks of January. The goal is to improve the educational experience for our students by giving them opportunities to engage in experiential learning that goes beyond our core curriculum, as well as develop career and life skills. On campus course offerings will take place Monday through Thursday with local excursions on Fridays to provide field experiences that offer extensions to classroom learning. A few of the possibilities for courses include Foundations to Finance, Flight Exploration, Outdoor Adventure and Survival Skills, and Keys to Healthy Lifestyle. Students will sign up for 2 or 3 courses in the early fall at a course fair.
