A decade spent as a newspaper reporter led Christine Meyer to a career she loves: fundraising.
During her newsroom years, after every feature story on a non-profit, she found her heartstrings pulled in a new way. She would volunteer in little ways, and folding newsletters grew to staffing a booth at an educational fair and turned into serving on a board.
With a family move to the East Coast, Ms. Meyer took time to re-evaluate her career and plunged into the world of non-profits. Over the last 20 years, she's worked at museums, with social service agencies and at educational institutions.
As of July 1, 2017, Ms. Meyer became a member of the Academy's Senior Staff when she took on the mantle of Director of Advancement. In this role, she is responsible for the strategic outreach to alumni and donors with the goal of strengthening and diversifying the school's financial base. Her team works to ensure that R-MA has the support necessary to remain a superior college-prep military school for decades to come.
She first joined the staff of Randolph-Macon Academy in 2010 as Director of Development, focusing on developing a peer-to-peer fundraising model for the Academy and increasing alumni giving participation.
Ms. Meyer and her husband, Edwin, live in Lake Frederick, VA, with their two wirehaired dachshunds. She is a ruling elder in the Middletown Presbyterian Church, enjoys cooking, travel and reading and is passionate about her Sooner sports.
