Jim Payne has always enjoyed working with people, and that led him into a variety of counseling positions and Christian ministries and includes being a volunteer for mission centers in the inner-city of Richmond, VA, and a youth minister for churches as far south as Emporia, VA.
“I grew up in the suburbs of Richmond, VA, playing league sports like football and baseball. But, I also spent a lot of time on my grandparents’ farm in Louisa County, Virginia and was taught how to milk a cow and grow my own food!” These experiences enable him to relate to many students as the Night Officer-in-Charge.
At R-MA, Jim has taught Computer Applications, Comparative Religions and Social Psychology. He is currently the pastor of a small church just outside of Front Royal. Some of his personal hobbies include reading and playing board games, especially chess and checkers. He is also an avid movie fan, his favorites being the Star Wars series and vampire movies.
