The advanced drone applications program at R-MA had its first trial run during J-Term, and will return again for the four-week summer program. Next fall, the program will begin in earnest. Citlaly Sosa '20 Named Horatio Alger Scholarship National Scholar

When Randolph-Macon Academy senior Citlaly Sosa received an email in January that said the 2020 Horatio Alger Scholarship National Scholars had been announced, she was heartbroken--she had not been selected. She hadn’t even gotten the State Scholar honor, something her older sister had achieved. Citaly’s disappointment was short-lived, however, as she received a call the next day from her Horatio Alger sponsor, who apologized for the error and informed her that she had indeed been selected as a National Scholar.

The First Few Weeks at Military School

There are often questions about what the first few weeks at a military school are like, and it is a question worth exploring. Different military schools have different philosophies. At some, students have to earn the right to be called a cadet, and they might spend the first few weeks with limited privileges or having to do extra physical training. At Randolph-Macon Academy, a student who is new to the Upper School is a full-fledged cadet with the same rights and privileges as returning students. There are fun activities for camaraderie and bonding.

Her senior year season of basketball did not go as planned for Randolph-Macon Academy’s Maggie Acquaah. Sidelined by a knee injury, she was forced to play a supporting role for her teammates when what she really wanted was to be on the court.
