J-Term Course Fair Generates Excitement

In January 2020, Randolph-Macon Academy students will pause in their regular school-year studies to take two three-week inquiry-based courses geared toward career and life skills development. Nicknamed the "J-Term," the offered classes will encompass a wide variety of special interests. On Wednesday, September 4th, the Upper School cadets had the opportunity to talk to each of the teachers sponsoring one of the 17 courses during the “J-Term Course Fair.”

The Jackets started their season confidently with a home game against Fresta Valley. Somto Ogah was menacing throughout from attacking mid and won a penalty in the first half that was converted by keeper JJ Banek-Gabelle. Somto got on the score sheet in the second half with a goal of his own before JJ Banek-Gabelle added two more for his hat-trick when moved to attacking mid. Fresta scored a late consolation goal for a 4-1 victory for R-MA.

The cadets of the VA-091 Air Force Junior ROTC at Randolph-Macon Academy decided that this year on Patriot Day, they would hold a ceremony to remember the events of September 11, 2001, and honor those who had lost their lives in the terrorist attacks.


Exciting 2019 Season Opener for Middle School Volleyball

R-MA Staff

The middle school volleyball team officially began its season on Tuesday at home against a cross town opponent.  Chelsea Academy, who has proven to be competitive in volleyball, brought a team ready to display their talents.  First year R-MA coach David Camarillo and assistant coach Mariola Cuffe were anxious to see how their young squad would perform.

Representatives from the Falcon Foundation visited Randolph-Macon Academy on Thursday, September 5th, to formally recognize the Academy's eight Falcon Scholars of 2019-2020. Joining the Academy family for the celebration were Foundation President Lt Gen Jay Kelley and Trustees Lt Gen Charles Heflebower, Lt Gen John Fairfield, and Mr. Daniel Twomey.
