Young Jackets Victorious in First Outing

On Friday, December 6, the Randolph-Macon Academy Middle School Boys' Basketball team played their first game of the season against a young and inexperienced Riverfront Academy team from Front Royal. This was also the first Valley Middle School Conference (VMSC) game of the year.

The Yellow Jackets came out strong and led after the first quarter 20-4. We were able to empty the entire bench early in the first half and led at half time 30-10. The first team started the third quarter and played well before taking a seat for the remainder of the game. The second and third group played three minutes of the third quarter and all of the fourth quarter and performed well.

The leading scorers and rebounders for the game were: Stanley Richards with 12 points; Jacob Backo scored 8 points; Cailen Baggett, Griffin Loper, and John Backo threw in 6 points each; Gabe Dubin and Michael Wan scored 4 each; while Javon Farmer and Ian Mounts each contributed 2 points. Leading the way in rebounds were Backo and Karen, collecting 9 rebounds each while Loper pulled down 8 rebounds.

The coaches were pleased with the performance of the entire team.  With combined efforts the Yellow Jackets walked away with a 56-23 victory.

The game for today, Tuesday, was postponed due to snow. The Jackets take to the court again on Friday evening at 6:00, at The Wakefield School in the Plains, Virginia. The opponent will be the Fresta Valley Pioneers.
