What to Look for in a College Preparatory School

If you’re going to send your child to a college preparatory school, you’ll want to make the best possible decision for their future. Not only will you want to choose a school that best prepares them for life at a post-secondary institution, but you’ll want to be certain that they’re receiving an education that best suits their academic needs and interests. You’ll also want to be sure they’re in an environment that allows them to succeed, as well as teaches them skills that can be useful later in life.

Randolph-Macon Academy can offer all of this and more to your child, and there are many reasons why R-MA can be the school you’re looking for to help them stand out in the competitive field for college admissions. Here are some signs to look out for when you consider enrolling your child in a college preparatory school.

Qualities that Help Students Get Accepted into Prestigious Universities

The biggest priority of any college preparatory school is to prepare students for life in college or university. At Randolph-Macon Academy, there are many ways students can do exactly this. For example, students can enroll in any of 17 Advanced Placement classes, in subjects like Psychology, Statistics, Environmental Science, and US Government and Politics. Upon successfully completing these courses and their exams, students can be given advanced placement and/or credit from close to 3,000 post-secondary institutions around the world.

Advanced Placement and Honors classes are available to students

Students can also enroll in Honors classes, in subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, English, and Algebra. In addition, all students in grades 9 to 12 also participate in the Air Force Junior ROTC which helps students develop their sense of self-discipline, character, grit, and appreciation for community service. Initiatives such as these allow students to not only elevate their academic performance, but also prepare for life during and after college. These opportunities can also help them stand out during the college application process by showing how they have gone above and beyond during their studies.

A Good Prep School Also Helps Students Discover Their Passions

Any student attending prep school will want to attend an institution where they can pursue their primary academic interests, as well as be in an environment that allows them to thrive. Randolph-Macon Academy can help these students do both. With small class sizes that have an average of 8 to 12 students each, R-MA prioritizes allowing students to build on their sense of curiosity and creativity through learning via projects, class discussion, technology, and simulation labs. R-MA also offers students Pre-Professional Pathways, an optional education structure allowing them to take courses in subjects like Leadership Dynamics and Global Entrepreneurship, with the aim of further developing their skills and helping them explore their passions.
