What Students At Our Private Academy Can Expect From Their Summer Courses

This year, Randolph-Macon Academy is delighted to offer students the chance to attend our 2021 Summer Program with in-person instruction and on-campus accommodation. Through these features, R-MA has prepared an open and safe learning environment in accordance with COVID-19 protective guidelines.

From June 24 to July 23, 2021, both upper and middle school students have the opportunity to enrich their academic experience with a wide range of courses. With a schedule of fun and engaging activities, students can expect a dynamic and memorable summer experience.

Here’s an overview of what the summer program at R-MA has to offer!

A Diverse Range of Course Options at Our Private Boarding School

Enrolling in the summer program at our private academy will offer students the chance to ignite their intellectual curiosity and expand their skill set beyond the school year.

Middle school students in grades 6 to 8 will be able to enhance their academic career through an extensive course program. Students can develop their aptitude in traditional academic subjects, including math, science, and history. At the same time, students have the freedom to expand their imagination with creative writing, or develop their organizational skills and productivity with courses in effective study habits.

Additional courses include Music, in which students combine traditional music theory with technology to create their own custom tracks, and Robotics, which teaches students to design 3D objects using advanced software. R-MA also offers a Flight & Drones course to middle school students, with the opportunity to explore career options in drones and practice with our on-campus flight simulator. Whatever their interest, students will have the chance to channel their energies into a productive outlet this summer.

The Chance to Engage in Extracurricular Activities

The summer program at our private boarding school offers more than academic enrichment. Students are given the chance to have fun in an inclusive, interactive, and dynamic environment. With a 135-acre campus and proficient social-distancing measures in place, R-MA provides students with a variety of on-campus activities, from game nights, to campfires, to paintballing, and scavenger hunts. Above all, students will be given the chance to spend quality time with their peers through stimulating extracurriculars.

To explore off-campus activities, students can participate in trips to Washington D.C. and Shenandoah National Park. Other exciting excursions include field trips to movie theaters, roller skating rinks, and bowling alleys. Despite the necessary COVID-19 precautions, R-MA is proud to offer an engaging itinerary that will provide students with a truly unforgettable experience this summer.

Daily Schedules and Accommodation at Our Summer School

Over the course of four weeks, R-MA’s program organizes a daily schedule that will ensure students get the most out of their summers. For middle school students, each day runs from 6:45 to 21:45 and is packed with classes, breaks, meals, mentoring, and recreational activities. Additionally, some weekends also include longer off-campus trips.

During the course of the summer, R-MA is proud to offer on-campus accommodation, featuring dormitories with renovated student lounges. Dormitories are separated by middle and upper school students, with further divisions by gender. All students in the 2021 summer program will receive single rooms, equipped with a bed, desk, closet, and air-conditioning. Female rooms are also equipped with a private bathroom. Dorm parents will reside on each floor to offer additional support and supervision to students. Our student lounges are recently renovated to include socially-distanced seating and workspaces. Recreational activities, including ping pong, foosball, and air-hockey tables, are also available for students to unwind in the communal lounge area. All of this combines to promise a fun-filled and engaging summer to student participants!
