Robin Penn ’14 Selected to Disney World of Color Honor Choir

R-MA senior Robin Penn has been selected for the Walt Disney World of Color Honor Choir. Robin Penn ’14 of Henderson, TN, has been selected to the Walt Disney World of Color Honor Choir. Penn, along with 1,473 other singers, submitted a video audition to compete for a spot on the Honor Choir. Just over 700 were selected to be part of the song, which can be viewed online.

Penn learned about the event from R-MA English teacher Robert Davies, whose elective class “Honors The Arts in Society,” had been looking at Whitacre’s works and virtual choirs. After noting that Virtual Choir 5 had premiered at Queen Elizabeth's Coronation Anniversary, Davies mentioned the upcoming Honor Choir audition to his class, and several students decided to give it a try.

According to the web site, “Disney’s World of Color teamed-up with Grammy®-winning American composer Eric Whitacre to produce a song, “Glow”, written especially for the World of Color Honor Choir at the Winter Dreams holiday show. The World of Color Honor Choir, inspired by Eric Whitacre’s virtual choirs, is formed of singers from the United States and its territories aged 18 and older, joined by a love of music and technology.”
