R-MA CFO Retires; New CFO Announced

Ms. Desiree Kardashian of Berryville, VA, will become Randolph-Macon Academy’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective 1 July 2012.  She replaces Ms. Joan C. Burke of Front Royal, VA, who is retiring after serving at Randolph-Macon Academy for a total of 35 years, 28 of which were as CFO.

“Words are inadequate to describe Ms. Burke’s positive impact on our mission over the years,” said R-MA President Maj Gen Henry M. Hobgood.  “Indeed, R-MA is financially strong and stable today because of her great work, dedication and commitment.  We are eternally grateful.”

Hobgood stated that he felt the financial future of R-MA would continue to be in good hands under Kardashian’s guidance. Kardashian has served as the Controller/CFO for ConVerge Diagnostic Services in Peabody, MA since 2010. Prior to that, she was the Director of Finance and CFO at Piedmont Medical Laboratory in Winchester, VA from 1996 to 2010. Kardashian holds a B.S. in accounting from The University of Connecticut.

Randolph-Macon Academy (R-MA), founded in 1892, is a college-preparatory, coeducational day and boarding school for students in grades 6 through 12.  Students in grades 9-12 participate in R-MA’s 91st Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) and have the option to participate in a unique flight program. R-MA is affiliated with the United Methodist Church and is located in Front Royal, VA.
