MS Boys’ Basketball Secures Another Win

On Thursday the R-MA Middle School Boys Basketball team won their contest against Legacy Christian. The newly formed Legacy school started a basketball program this year and the team consists of fifth and sixth graders. These young men tried hard but were unable to stop the bigger, older, more experienced R-MA team. The Jackets got off to a fast start and led 13-2 at the end of the first quarter due to 8 points by seventh-grader Sidique Thomas-Sualley. The second quarter saw little action and the score at halftime was 17-5. The third quarter saw Sidique, Will Graham, and Ben Kopjanski score 4 points each to make the score 31-12 after three stanzas. R-MA’s Joseph Flowers scored 4 points in the fourth quarter to finalize the game with R-MA winning an impressive 37-12.

Leading the way for the Yellow Jackets was seventh-grader Sidique Thomas-Sualley scoring 12 points.  Seventh-grader Joseph Flowers had a good game and ended with 6 points. Eight-graders David Deng, Will Graham, and Ben Kopjanski threw in 8 points each and seventh-grader Manny Uzoma hit a three pointer. Eighth-graders Daggm Mekonnen and Diego Leiva completed the scoring with 2 points each.

With this win the Yellow Jackets are 4-0 in the young season. Next Tuesday the Jackets will host Fresta Valley in the season’s first VMSC game. The girls’ game will start at 4:00 with the boys to follow.  Come out and support the R-MA teams.
