On Friday evening the R-MA Middle School Boys' Basketball team cinched a number two seed in the Valley Middle School Conference (VMSC) tournament scheduled for this week. Front Royal Christian Academy came to R-MA for a VMSC contest that resulted in an R-MA 37-2 win over the Warriors. The Jackets jumped out to a 26-0 halftime lead and never looked back. The Jackets were able to play the entire bench during the second quarter and the second half.
Leading the way for the young Jackets was eighth-grader Ian Mounts who led all scorers with 8 points. Eighth-grader Kota Ikemoto and seventh-grader Michael Sumner each added 6 points. Sixth-grader Alex Saveliev scored 5 points, and eighth-graders Stanley Richards and Shawn Levitt, and sixth-grader Sidique Thomas-Sualley contributed 4 points each.
With this win the Jackets go into the VMSC tournament with a league record of 5-1 and a second place seed in the tournament. The overall record for the Jackets is 10-1. The Jackets will host the tournament semi-final game on Tuesday at 4:30.
