Around this time of year, we like to reflect on the spirit of giving. Though service and community play a crucial role in R-MA’s school culture all year, we believe the holiday season is the perfect time to draw attention to the importance of giving. It serves an essential function in a community, enabling people to connect, pursue positive personal development, and collectively come together to resolve a range of social issues. Explore how we foster the giving spirit within the R-MA family and how generosity from people like you can help us broaden the reach of our community support.
Our Private School Students Learn How to Value Their Community
Student life at R-MA is centered around personal development. For an individual to give to their community from the heart, they must understand the value of community and exhibit strong character. Academic and extracurricular programs at R-MA are designed to strengthen each student’s sense of self by instilling various positive values and character traits.
Mentorship, a strong culture of personal responsibility, and an emphasis on academic excellence primes students to be generous community members, ready to serve their communities throughout their lives.
Community Service Plays a Major Role in Our Student Life Experience
Community service at our private school is encouraged as it plays a crucial role in our culture. Giving is a fundamental aspect of human nature that extends beyond material possessions and encompasses various forms of generosity, including time, attention, skills, and compassion. Therefore, R-MA students are encouraged to give their time and efforts to those in need. On average, our students log 12,000 hours of community service each year, highlighting their dedication to improving the lives of others and the world at large. We couldn’t be more proud of the compassion within our community.
Giving Back To R-MA Benefits The Whole Community
When you give back to our college prep school, you play a role in helping the entire community. As discussed above, R-MA students are committed to service, participating in community outreach through several student-led clubs and organizations such as the Interact Club. Some charitable and community service projects include landscaping at senior centers, studying algae overgrowth, and advocacy work for causes like the Walk for Diabetes. All of these activities are made possible thanks to donations from alumni and current community members.
