How Falcon Scholars at R-MA Excel Academically and Personally

Every year, the US Air Force Academy accepts a new set of exceptional young men and women into its hallowed grounds. And for those who haven’t yet made the cut, the question of “where next” comes up very quickly. If you are at this critical point in your life, you should be looking at places to further your personal development in preparation. And there’s no better place to prepare than at Randolph-Macon Academy. This blog discusses how R-MA can help you excel academically and personally as a Falcon Scholar during your Falcon Foundation Year.

Why Choose Randolph-Macon Academy?

For your Falcon Foundation year, Randolph-Macon Academy has developed a carefully curated program that can help in your pursuit of academic and personal development. The Falcon Foundation School at R-MA is the United States’ oldest co-educational Air Force JROTC program. And we have a long list of successful USAFA alumni with several accompanying laurels to show for our decades of work.

Our goal at R-MA is to prepare our students with the resources, skills, and character traits to help them succeed in their personal and military lives. Below is a brief description of the programs and resources available to Falcon Foundation Scholars at R-MA.

Training Programs at Our Private Boarding School

If you’re keen on flying, you’ll like our in-house Flight School and the two Cessna 172 planes manned by flight instructors that are full faculty members.

There, you’ll partake in various ground school activities and be taught to fly solo before finishing your year. You’ll also be exposed to our unmanned flight program, where you can try your hands at flying drones and exploring the various drone operation career trajectories.

Then there’s the Cadre Leadership Training program in August that prepares our students for what lies ahead in their personal and military life. The training regimen at our private boarding school includes various drills and ceremonies, physical fitness, and military life routines. And this program aims to instill in the students the leadership mentality and instincts that’ll serve them well in the future.

Rigorous training programs at R-MA prepare Falcon Scholars for academic and personal success.

For our Aerospace Classes (an Aerospace 400-level class), a retired Lieutenant Colonel is appointed to lead the class of Falcon Scholars. These scholars are taught values such as character, social and academic brightness, citizenship, selflessness, and patriotism.

Our Falcon Scholars also pass through a Mentorship and Guidance program that takes them on a journey to personal development. Our mentoring team is a group of on-staff brigadier generals who actively participate in the Academy interview procedure. And then they’ll zero in on subjects like uniform care and wear, school rules and culture, etc. The mentors help students improve their USAFA application acceptance prospects by focusing on academic and military performance.

How Our Curriculum Benefits R-MA Students

Our curriculum is designed with several teaching and training regimens that help students prepare adequately for a future outside or inside the military. One such regimen is the High Flight program which has left a trail of successful applications to all United States service academies.

The comprehensive curriculum at our private boarding school facilitates our training of successful graduates.

The curriculum has been fine-tuned to measure up to the standards set by the admission board of the US. Air Force Academy. And our students are also taught English, Mathematics, and Science courses while preparing for their ACT/SAT exams.
