What is GPS for Success?

GPS for Success is a prevention-based program making waves in schools and communities nationwide. Created by the My Life My Power Institute, this innovative initiative focuses on Social Emotional Intelligence, shifting the conversation away from negative influences and towards a more positive and proactive approach to life.

The program caters to students in grades 1-12 and is designed to be flexible and customizable to fit the needs of each educational setting. Rather than focus only on the harm of substance use, At R-MA, GPS for Success inspires students to be their best selves through five core principles. Let’s explore them in detail.

The Five Core Principles of GPS for Success in the Character and Leadership Program

At the heart of the GPS for Success track of the character and leadership program at R-MA are five core principles that serve as the foundation for our student’s personal and leadership development. They include:

  • Vision: The first step toward success is encouraging our students to envision their future. By developing a clear vision, they can set meaningful goals and stay focused on their aspirations.
  • Mission: Understanding their mission in life helps our students align their actions with their values and purpose. This principle emphasizes the importance of having a sense of direction and intention in all endeavors.
  • Purpose: Instilling a sense of purpose in our character and leadership program drives them to pursue their goals with passion and determination. It’s about understanding the ‘why’ behind their actions and staying motivated to face challenges.
  • Team: Success is only achieved with support. The Team principle highlights the value of collaboration, support, and mutual respect among peers. Our students learn the importance of working together towards a common goal and the strength that comes from unity.
  • Commitment: Last but certainly not least, commitment is the glue that holds all other principles together. It’s about dedication, persistence, and the willingness to persevere through obstacles.

Our students are taught to stay committed to their vision, mission, purpose, and team,  no matter what.
