General Conference of The United Methodist Church

Randolph-Macon Academy recently received a wonderful invitation to perform on an international stage.

This May, R-MA students will be performing in Portland, Oregon, in front of an audience of thousands of Methodist delegates from all over the world. Every four years the General Conference of The United Methodist Church meets in a large city, and it happens to be the United States this year.

Twenty cadets, members of the R-MA chorus or cast from the school's fall drama production of Godspell, will make the trip to “the City of Roses” to represent the Academy.

Regrettably, this invitation came after the school’s 2015-2016 budget was set, so the Chorus and Drama Departments are looking for donations to help make the trip possible.  The cost for the 20 students and three chaperones to represent R-MA at the international conference is expected to be approximately $10,000.

“This is a unique educational experience for our cadets and a wonderful opportunity for R-MA as a United Methodist institution to live into its heritage,” noted Rev. Josh Orndorff, R-MA’s Chaplain, “With your help, we look forward to bringing our ‘City on a Hill’ to Portland, Oregon, in May.”
