Chelsea Academy Invitational

On Tuesday, October 13th, the R-MA Cross Country team traveled to compete against 4 other D.A.C. teams at the Chelsea Academy Invitational. With the Championship meet just around the corner, this was a great way to gauge how far they have come as a team, and to see where they compare to the rest of the competition.

The course itself (held at Rockland Park) was a challenge. Uneven terrain and a few steep hills made pushing the pace difficult. However, Rob Farmer (Freshman) did just that. In his typical gutsy fashion, Farmer confronted the front runner the whole race. Unfortunately, Farmer fell just short, taking 2nd overall with a time of 19:10. Right on his heels was Senior Jake Branham. With an equally impressive performance, Jake helped to keep the score low with a 4th place finish (19:35). In addition to this, runners Cameron Trexler (6th – 19:59) and Nealon Davis (7th – 20:18) rounded out the top ten, with Cyrus Lesko being the last scoring position finishing 18th (21:42). Other notable individual performances to help with scoring include Ben Schoonover (22nd – 22:13) and Sean Bell (22:38).

With great pack running, the Yellow Jackets were able to crush the competition with a total of 37 points. This ensured a 1st place finish for the boys' team in their first time competing at the Chelsea Academy Invitational.
