Students identified as strong swimmers during the swim portion of the Fall Leadership Challenge were give a surprise reward: an orientation in SCUBA diving. On Sunday, May 20th, they were given the opportunity to experience PADI (Professional Association of Diving Instructors) course entitled Discover SCUBA. Five cadets and four Falcon Scholars participated in the voluntary class.
In the Discover SCUBA orientation, the cadets learned the basic safety guidelines and skills needed to dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional. They learned about the equipment and practiced moving around and breathing under water in the R-MA pool.
