5 Tips for Completing a Boarding School Application:
Completing an application to any school can sometimes seem like a bit of a daunting task, but boarding schools seem to ask a little more from its applicants than others. We asked our Admissions Officers what they thought would be the most useful tips to make the process as painless as possible.
1-When looking at several different schools, make a list of questions you would like to ask each one and write down what you liked about each after your visit. This will help you know which school is best for you and what you are looking for.
2-Pay attention to the school’s application deadline dates.
3-Set aside time to complete the application in a timely manner by planning to work on it over a period of a couple of days or a weekend.
4-Be sure to ask for teacher recommendations early on in the process, making sure they have plenty of time to get it completed. Make it easy on them by pre-addressing an envelope for them to mail it or ensuring that they have the fax number to send it to.
5–Be proactive about your application! Check in with your teachers and current school to see that they have sent in their recommendations and transcripts. Don’t make the admissions office track you down for information; contact them to make sure they have received all of the necessary documentation and information to move your file on to the approval stage.
