Innovation is at the heart of Randolph-Macon Academy’s academic curriculum. It’s part of the reason why our graduates enjoy a 100% university acceptance rate. It’s part of the reason why we’re ranked as the 4th Best Boarding School and the 10th Best Private High School in all of Virginia. And it’s also part of what our alumni and donors support when they give to the Academy.
R-MA alumni provide a sense of inspiration for current students, who can see from their example how hard work, grit and determination translate into successes that make a difference. Keep reading to learn about our school’s innovative teaching methods, and how your support powers our commitment to providing the next generation with an unparalleled education.
1. Help Foster an Engaging Learning Environment for Students
Innovative teaching approaches allow instructors at R-MA to present students with lessons that relate to the current world. At the core of this engaging approach is a curriculum designed to inspire students, nurture their interests and prepare them for success in university and beyond.
Whether challenging themselves through the more than 15 Honors and AP classes we offer, earning college credits through our 10 Dual-Enrolled classes at our partner universities or laying a solid foundation for career success through our Pre-Professional Pathways, our students have many opportunities to push the limits and thrive. When you make a donation to R-MA, you are supporting the measures our school takes to provide a learning environment that is engaging and interactive.
2. Support Collaboration and Hands-On Experiences
R-MA remains one of Virginia’s top private college preparatory schools in part because of the unique hands-on opportunities we are constantly providing for students. For example, our Middle School robotics class gives students the opportunity to work with 3D printers, OZOBOTS, drones, and much more. Meanwhile, in our Unmanned Systems Lab, students benefit from our partnership with local tech company Silent Falcon UAS Technologies and gain experience tackling real-world challenges. With an emphasis on technology, we strive to provide innovative academic activities that let students jump into their studies hands-on.
3. Promote the Development of Life Skills That Are Key to Success
A sound education is only part of the key to success. Grit, determination, teamwork and discipline are essential to overcoming challenges and reaching goals. That’s why R-MA students don’t just focus on achieving academic excellence; they work hard to develop essential life skills and a sense of community that will help them both inside and outside the classroom. The Honor Code at R-MA, for example, instills the lifelong habits and values of honesty, mutual trust and respect of others. This in turn helps to foster a sense of community, where each student realizes the impact that their personal development can have on the future.
R-MA students, faculty and staff members work together every day to promote good relationships and understanding, develop school spirit and help every new student adjust to life at R-MA. When alumni remain involved in our community, they support R-MA in our mission to continue providing for our student body in a way that serves their futures.
