3 Ways Your Support Helps R-MA Deliver Advanced Academic Programs

The academic success of R-MA students depends upon our ability to deliver innovative and challenging programs that give students a competitive edge. R-MA instructors create a student-centered learning experience that encourages them to dig deeper in their understanding of the world. In the process, our students develop a strong foundation of knowledge and academic skills that will serve them well in their futures.

With the generous support of donors like you, R-MA continues to provide advanced educational opportunities that give every student the chance to reach their full potential. Read on to find out more about how you can help our students build a foundation for success.

A Cutting-Edge Curriculum that Inspires New Interests

The academic curriculum at R-MA offers something for every student. Along with a traditional curriculum in sciences, humanities, and languages, our unique academic programs include Aviation, Robotics & Computer Science, Aerospace, and more. These programs are a chance for students to explore challenging topics that broaden their academic interests and career options. For example, students in the Aerospace program will dive into the principles of aircraft flight and navigation, space technology, the aerospace industry, and more.

Our January Term is an additional opportunity for students to advance their academic knowledge through seminar-style experiential learning. In a 3-week term between the Fall and Spring semesters, students can go beyond the core curriculum in topics such as drone and robotics technology, hydroponics, photography and music, writing, and engineering basics. By supporting R-MA, you can help give our students the opportunity to strengthen their academic interests in whichever path they choose.

A Student-Centered Learning Environment

Academic programs at R-MA are able to build advanced knowledge and skills through student-centered learning. Student-centered education is about employing collaboration, the student’s prior knowledge, and exploration of interests to arrive at a more in-depth understanding of the topic. With an average class size of 12, R-MA teachers provide instruction geared towards academic success for each student.

In each program, teachers facilitate the learning process with guidance and challenging questions. In the process, students hone their critical thinking skills as they tackle advanced topics and make decisions about the world we live in. For example, Upper School students in our Robotics & Computer Science program will explore the fundamentals of computer programming and robotics by participating in game-based engineering challenges. Through the experience, students build logical problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and an understanding of the ever-changing technological world.

Elevating Student Portfolios

We aim to offer programs that go above and beyond to provide students with an advanced academic foundation that will position them for future success. When you support R-MA, you support an education that is geared towards success at the university level and beyond.

In the Upper School, students have access to over 15 Honors and Advanced Placement courses in Math, Science, English, and History. This is a chance for them to explore subjects at a higher education level while earning college credit. R-MA also offers advanced teaching in over 10 Dual-Enrolled classes with James Madison University, Shenandoah University, and Lord Fairfax Community College. Students who successfully complete these courses can receive college credit at universities in Virginia and beyond.

Through the strength of our curriculum, R-MA is able to provide advanced academic opportunities to our students that will carry them through to a rewarding future.
